  • Detect antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 from 3 months ago.
  • Have high sensitivity and specificity.
  • Are screening tests. Once the home test reacts, take a confirmatory test at the nearest facility.

Self-administered home HIV test

A home HIV test is a good option if you have difficult access to testing centers in Poland. It is a 3rd generation test i.e. a rapid screening test that detects anti-HIV antibodies. You perform it by pricking your fingertip according to the instructions, and you will get the result in 1 minute or 15 minutes. HIV tests sent by the Social Education Foundation may have different manufacturers. The Foundation guarantees that each has high efficacy (sensitivity and specificity) and has been approved for distribution in Poland.

NOTE! If you are a person living with HIV and your viral load is undetectable, get tested for HIV by your doctor. In this case, the rapid HIV test will always react.

1-minute self-administered tests have been provided/financed by the WHO Country Office in Poland.

How to take a 1-minute HIV test?

Oral fluid HIV test

The self-administered HIV test is a diagnostic test for the presence of HIV (HIV-1 and HIV-2) in gingival fluid. It detects the presence of antibodies against HIV-1 and HIV-2 within 20 minutes. The rapid test detects antibodies 3 months after the risky situation. The oral fluid test has the same high sensitivity and specificity as rapid fingerstick blood tests. The product is intended only for people aged 18 and over!

NOTE! If you are a person living with HIV and your viral load is undetectable, get tested for HIV by your doctor. In this case, the rapid HIV test will always react.
